AIC would like to invite you to take part in the BENCHMARK on Electric Bike Engines to be held on May, 22nd starting at 9.30 a.m. at AIC facilities, aimed at analysing the design and manufacturing strategies of different manufacturers in the sector.
During the workshop we will carry out a comparative analysis between motors developed by consolidated manufacturers and those proposed by new emerging players in the market. We will analyse the different types of engines and the main trends, as well as the success factors of a bicycle engine in the market.
We will present a map of the main engine manufacturers, both globally and specifically in the European context, detailing their figures, location and strategies/positioning.
We will put the spotlight on seven selected engines, which will be examined and compared in depth. In addition, interactive physical models will be available for direct observation and manipulation of each engine, providing a detailed technical analysis in terms of exploded views, design, materials, dimensions and construction architecture.
We will share the main lessons learned and conclusions obtained from this selection of engines, which will cover both central engines and hub engines, developed by the following manufacturers:
- BOSCH
- SHIMANO
- MAHLE
- BAFANG
- DECATHLON
- TQ
AIC’s technical team has carried out an exhaustive disassembly and technical analysis of the engines, the parts of which will be available for direct observation during the day. This practical experience will be complemented with a presentation by AIC’s Competitive Intelligence team, which will address the following contents:
- Overview of the bicycle engine industry: different typologies, European market and main trends.
- Main players in the sector: global and European ranking, market shares and players’ matrix.
- Technical benchmarking: comparative analysis of selected engines, differential characteristics and conclusions.
- Direct access to the physical exploded view: interactive exhibition of the engines analysed.
